Create your Mastermind Alliance

Welcome! Please watch the introduction of this module below before you get started:

Every time you attend a conference, discussion group or event, take note - someone was responsible for leading that. Someone had a thought that if they gather like-minded people together in one room, they can mobilize their mission further and be seen as a leader of influence while doing it. That someone can also be YOU.

Mastermind groups offer the support and resources you need to exponentially accelerate your career goals. The tools here can help you create another excellent opportunity - to form your own professional group, "hunting and gathering" like-minded professionals, you are regarded as a leader of influence. People who bring others together, also known as "bridgers" are naturally considered centers of influence.

If somewhere down the line, you also wish to lead a mentoring program, become a mentor and give back to others that need support, this module will also help you begin that initiative.

.There is power in numbers. One of the most powerful tools ever used by successful people—whether the world’s richest industrialists from the early 20th Century or today’s modern
icons of business—is called the mastermind group. Napoleon Hill first talked
about mastermind groups in his classic book Think and Grow Rich. And it’s the
one concept people most reference when they credit any one thing with helping
them become successful.  Andrew Carnegie had a mastermind group. So did Henry Ford. In fact, Ford would mastermind with brilliant thinkers like Thomas Edison, Harvey Firestone and others in a group they held at their winter mansions in Coral Gables, Florida. They knew, as millions of others have discovered since, that a mastermind
group can focus special energy on your effort—in the form of knowledge,
resources and spiritual energy, too. While you must always do the work of
becoming a great success, a mastermind group can harness and maximize the
spiritual focus behind your success. It’s this spiritual aspect that Napoleon Hill
wrote about extensively. In fact, he said that if we are in tune with THE
mastermind—that is, God, the Universal Power or whatever term you use for
the all-powerful life force, we have significantly more positive energy available
to us—power that can be focused on our success. In short, “mastermind” is both that power coming to us from above—from the God force—but also that power which comes to us from each other. Together, we know more and can focus more energy than any one of us can alone.

Drop out of the negativity club

Are all of your relationships supporting you? On the flip side and unlike masterminds, be aware of who needs to tone down their worrisome and negativity outlooks on life and/or exit from your circle of trust. There are people, possibly family or close friends who want what's best for you, however they may also (unknowingly) play a role in pushing away your desires. By the mere act of your "tuning into" the woes and complaints they have around their own lives or how you are living yours, they can contribute to feeding any self-doubt related to your goals, and eat up your time that you could otherwise have spent elsewhere if not for a strong sense of obligation..

Here's how it works: you walk away from a conversation letting their warnings and opinions sink in. Now your environment is no longer supported for success and you don't have that same enthusiasm to follow through with some of your commitments. A state of resignation sinks in which further deepens upon every subsequent conversation you have with your negativity club.

'Your time is limited, don't waste it living someone else's life, trapped by dogma - living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice.' - Steve Jobs

Behind the Scenes with Marisa Santoro

I never woke up in the morning and said: "I need to start a mastermind group!". The very opposite was true. In fact, I never even knew what a mastermind was. In short, it is a meeting of the minds much like any conference or committee you join, with a very special characteristic - you always receive the solution or answer you are looking for before you leave the room. I first recognized the power of this group model when I began hanging out with other small business owners. My only network at the time was corporate professionals  primarily working in Wall Street like I was. While that was great, it didn't offer me much in the way of new ideas or opportunities if I stuck to my little pond of people - same industry, same geographic region, same mindset.  In order to see change, I had to change. The most powerful masterminds I belonged to were with perfect strangers who shared the same like-minded mission - to succeed in business by serving others in a bigger way. Sure we had different backgrounds and challenges but ultimately our desires were the same.  I became so hooked on them as a participant, not to mention the lifelong friendships I made,  that I began leading my own to help others experience what they were like, such as the one pictured above.
.
You can form a mastermind as small as three people and it can run for as little as three meetings. They can be run as conference calls or in person. After completing this module, please make a list of who you'd like to approach for a mastermind group. Pick 5 people you’d really like to mastermind with, then create a back-up list. If any one prospect says no, say “next” and move on to the next prospect on your list. I'd love to hear your results.  It's a great way for professionals to play together and support one another at the same time. You can test drive one and see how it feels.
.
By far, it is one of the most overlooked career strategies and goes so much further than the traditional networking event where connections are made but do not necessarily always offer anything substantial to support you. They are also very hit or miss, whereas masterminds are selective based on the profiles of like-minded members in the group.
.
A reminder: E+R=O. In order to see change, you have to be willing to try new and different things.
